OUL CULTIVATORS FINAL 5 JPEG

OUR HISTORY

Deuteronomy 15:10 You shall give to him freely, and your heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because for this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake.

By a comprehensive and holistic intervention we dramatically reduce the instances of relapse recidivism, criminality, delinquency . This rehabilitation model saves the state and local governments resources and the taxpayers’ money. Individuals who were once living at the expense of taxpayers will now be contributing members of society. Therefore not only will resources be saved, but they will be created.

Participants will be able to save costs on housing, food, transportation, and professional development.  At our farm we provide locally grown produce to participants and surrounding communities, especially in food deserts, we build affordable housing for our participants, we offer skills training and professional development, and we provide transportation resources to participants that need it.

Our participants’ influence and their testimonies will be leveraged as a positive  influence on incoming participants as the program is scaled up and duplicated. Incorporating these transformative methodologies provides cost savings not only for taxpayers and save government resources but also provides cost savings for our participants.

As our participants complete our rehabilitation program they will have everything they need at their fingertips to become a productive, functional, upstanding citizen who is able to rejoin communities.

We believe in environmental sustainability. One approach is a down-sized, communal, collaborative  living arrangement, utilizing eco-friendly building materials. Our supportive community land trust will have all of these features. Homes have grown larger over time in the United States, resulting in higher expenditure of energy. We will construct modern tiny one to two story homes for our residents using sustainable material.

“Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars, to change the world.”

– Harriet Tubman

Small farmers have become increasingly rare over time and farmland underutilized. This is even truer for farmers of color. Along with sustainable, environmentally friendly homes, we will also grow on the premises the food that we need and can grow to feed our staff and residents. With the remaining produce we will establish a Fresh Produce Co-Op which will generate income and employment for our residents. We understand that globalization has depressed local markets and increased fossil fuel consumption. By growing, eating and selling locally we are doing what is best for our environment.

Our holistic approach also adopts circulatory economical practices in order to eliminate as much waste as possible. Our goal is to keep materials, products, and services on our farm for as long as we possibly can by recycling, regenerating, redesigning, and upcycling materials, products, and services that may seem as “waste.” This will allow us to build affordable homes, create jobs, stimulate fertile crop soil, and offer creative rehabilitation programming.
